Drew and Judy Hutchinson from Hay Creek Quarter Horses, Aladdin, WY would like to present the efforts of our breeding program. Although we only started our breeding program in 1998, our knowledge, experience and opinions date back to our youth. In those days King, Leo, Poco Bueno, Three Bars, etc. were the popular current sires. We grew up on horseback on our respective family ranches, which we now operated. Over the years, I practiced veterinary medicine primarily as an equine practitioner. Judy worked as stallion manager on a Thoroughbred Farm. She has had numerous driving teams over the years. There have always been a variety of riding horses. Horses have always been central in our lives and have been good to us. Since 1998, we are semi-“retired”, raising cutting/reining bred prospects in a range operation. We feel that it is important to breed for disposition, trainability, athleticism, and eye appeal. Pedigrees with foundation breeding and performance make it much easier to achieve our breeding goals. We have purchased older stallions with proven performance records for themselves and their offspring. We try to ride our young mares before putting them into our broodmare band. We purchase older mares based on pedigree, performance and/or offspring performance. Our own stallions have sired our younger broodmares. We try to keep one or two prospects in reining training. The broodmares foal and raise their foals on open range. Most mares are pasture bred. The mares, yearlings and two year-olds range on pasture year-round. The stallions and weanlings receive supplement feed during the winter. As a payback to the horses in our world, we also provide a home to 45 head of un-adoptable Wild Horses for the Bureau of Land Management. They are 7-26 year old geldings that will run free on open range for the rest of their lives. Thank you for viewing our offering of |
